Ukrainian Green Building Council Registered in Ukraine

The Ukrainian Green Building Council (UaGBC) was officially registered in Ukraine. Currently the Council has the status of Prospective Member of World Green Building Council network, that is the first accreditation stage.

The main aim of the Council is to consolidate the organizations and professionals who adhere to the principles of green building. The priority directions of the Council activities are as follows:

·         implementation of the international standards for green building in Ukraine;

·         changes in Ukrainian legislation to promote green trends in the construction industry;

·         certification of buildings in accordance with the green certification schemes;

·         professional events for experts in construction and energy sectors;

·         popularization of green building by making and supporting web-site, etc.

The Council brings together companies, organizations and individuals interested in promoting sustainable development principles into real estate projects and environmentally friendly construction.

The founders of UaGBC are: Delta Proektconsult Ukraine, Knauf Insulation Ukraine, ArtBuild Hotel Group, Roedl & Partner, Beten International, Drees & Sommer, architect Tatiana Ernst.

"We joined the Ukrainian Green Building Council as we see the perspective of this direction in Ukraine, - said Andriy Pavlyk, Director of Knauf Insulation Ukraine. - Our company is familiar with the practice of these public organizations around the world, and we are pleased that this practice is being implemented in our country. The joint efforts will budge on the issue of promotion and application of sustainable materials and technologies".

UaGBC is a member of the World Green Building Council (WGBC). Therefore the Council members will receive support from the international professional community on the practical application of the principles of green building in real estate projects in Ukraine. Council members also will be provided with the informational support and help with finding new projects and partners for real estate projects and business development.

Council plans to organize seminars, workshops and conferences devoted to green building technologies, trainings and participation in the development of legislative and regulatory framework, promotion of sustainable development ideas, both in professional circles and among the general public.

The Council Board also plans to establish long-term cooperation with all organizations interested in green building popularization. The UaGBC has already started cooperation with the National Union of Architects, the Green Council of Kiev National University of Engineering and Architecture, Ukrainian Real Estate Club.
